C. Ayoka Lawson, spent her early years buried in books. She was a voracious reader with a big imagination and soon television and movies untucked her head, she became enthralled with the wonder of stage/screen storytelling. She pursued academic interests in other areas receiving Bachelors degree in Psychology from NCCU and a Master’s degree in African American Studies from Temple U, before the fine arts bug from childhood reasserted itself. After a blessed career in nonprofit and education where she developed/directed programs and co-founded a K-5 Arts Academy, Ay pursued a career in acting that led her to work professionally in both the Equity and SAG/AFTRA unions. As a writer/director she has written and produced her original works as well as directed regional productions. She currently resides in Arlington, Texas where she is the Drama Ministry Director at The Potters House, Dallas. There God uses her to write, direct and run volunteer ministry based programs geared toward the training and professional development of Christian writers, actors, and producers.
