A Texas legal legend known as a great unifier, Forrest Smith has brought together adversaries in the courtroom, the boardroom, and the community to effect profound change. Smith served as corporate counsel for Mobil Oil for over thirty years and then became President of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce. He is currently a practicing attorney, Chairman of the Board of the Dallas Better Business Bureau, and Honorary Consul General of Thailand.
Forrest has received many awards including the Dallas Morning News Father of the Year award, the Dallas Life Legends Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas General Counsel Forum. In 2015, The Texas Lawbook named Smith a Lion of The Texas Bar, and he recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Directors of Non Profits from the Dallas Business Journal. This past April, Smith was honored by the SMU Dedman School of Law with the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award for Private Practice.
Smith met his wife Martha McCarley on a blind date, at SMU, and will celebrate their 66th anniversary this December. They have 5 daughters and 8 grandchildren and have been members of The Potter’s House for the last 5 years.
