Dr. Anita Phillips is a minister, licensed therapist, and professor dedicated to strengthening mental health among people of faith. She holds a Ph.D. from the Regent University School of Psychology & Counseling and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has spent her career blending faith with individual and group therapy for those battling depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, and the effects of child sexual abuse.
Driven by her childhood struggles in a pastor’s family grappling with mental illness, Dr. Phillips is bringing the mental health conversation to the forefront in the church and community. She is transforming lives through her national Turn the Light On Tour. Today, Dr. Phillips is the director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree program at Lancaster Bible College. A third-generation First Lady, Dr. Phillips serves alongside her husband, Pastor Michael Phillips, at Kingdom Life Church in Baltimore, Maryland. They have been married for more than 20 years and have two phenomenal children.
